Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Nguyen Thien Thao, Dang Huynh Giao
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The copper-based metal organic frameworks CuOBA was successfully synthesized from the reaction of copper nitrate trihydrate and 4’4-oxybisbenzoic acid ligand by solvothermal method. The physico-chemical properties and structural characteristics of CuOBA were determined by a variety of different techniques including X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and Fourier Transform infrared (FTIR).This material was used as a heterogeneous catalyst for the C-O coupling reaction between 2’-Hydroxyacetophenone and benzyl ether to give 2-acetyl phenyl benzoate as the major product when using tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) (70% wt. in water) as an oxidant. Reaction yield reached more than 80% at 90oC in the presence of 5 mol% catalyst and 5 equivalents of oxidation TBHP after 8 hours. The results showed that CuOBA could be recovered and reused six times without a significant degradation in catalytic activity.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The aim of this paper is to study the model of Markov process in one dimension. The method of moments is here used, asin Depauw et al. (2009) and Lam (2014) to prove that this process conveges in distribution to a normal law (Theorem 1.1) and give its rate also (Theorem 3.1).More precisely, with  be the corresponding infinitesimal generator of the previous process and a given function  , we solve the Poisson’s equation  and then treat the limits of its solutions, the rate of the convergence is instantly given by the convergence of the moment.

Danh La Duc Thanh, Mai Van Hieu, Vo Trung Hieu, Huynh Nguyet Huong Giang, Do Quoc Cuong, Nguyen Phu Quy, Bui Thi Buu Hue
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Heterocyclic compounds containing quinazolinone core substructure are known to posess diverse bioactivities such as anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-hypertension, anti-convulsions, anti-cancer, anti-malaria and are considered to be important candidates for further developtment of new medicines. In this research, two synthetic pathways have been suggested for the synthesis of quinazolinone derivatives. The strong points of the methods come from the simpliness, utilization of cheap, environmentally frendly oxidant FeCl3 and especially the use of as green solvent as water. Based on these methods, two N-alkyl quinazolinone (2a-b) and four N-acetamidyl quinazolinone (8a-d) derivatives were successfully synthesized in good yields (62-81%). Anti-microbial activity evaluation found two N-acetamidyl quinazolinone derivatives possessing as good activity as Vancomycin hydrochloride against Bacillus cereus (MIC £ 8 µg/m).

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The biological activity of curcumin in turmeric is of great interest because of its usefulness in food, cosmetics as well as in the treatment of human disease. However, the bioavailability of curcumin has not been fully exploited due to low solubility leading to poor absorption, metabolism and rapid clearance from the body. The study was conducted to improve the bioavailability of curcumin by improving solubility by forming a complex of curcumin with hydroxylpropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD), a substance believed to increase the solubility and stability of the drug. The main chemical constituents of turmeric essential oil and curcuminoid extracted from turmeric powder are ar-turmerone (40.8%) and curcumin (76.4%). The results from the analysis of Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) showed that curcumin combined with polymers in the complex of curcumin-HP-β-CD and curcumin - HP-β-CD - essential oil. The water solubility of curcumin in the complex of curcumin - HP-β-CD and curcumin - HP-β-CD – essential oil were 159 and 229 times higher than that in raw curcumin, respectively. Mice given the curcumin-HP-β-CD complex had curucmin concentration in the blood about 5 times higher than those given raw curcumin and curcumin - HP-β-CD – essential oil at 8 h after ingestion.

Dinh Thanh Sang
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Based on surveys combining household interviews with Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and the “walk-in-the-wood” method, this paper is to examine the knowledge of S’tieng ethnic minorities in harvesting and using edible forest plants in Cat Tien National Park. The survey identified 94 species of edible forest plants belonging to 44 families used. The majority of them were herbs (37.2%), followed by trees (23.4%), shrubs (20.2%), and finally climbers (19.2%). Plants used as vegetables accounted for 59.6% of the total and 12.8% had UI ≥ 0.8. Many species used as vegetables have been important materials for the favourite daily food of S’tieng ethnic minorities and become an important part of their traditional food culture. However, the knowledge of S’tieng ethnic minorities has not been paid attention to applying, preserving and developing through sustainable plant use yet. So the indigenous knowledge should be applied to sustainable edible plant use and conservation. Especially, the harmful harvesting practices need bannning soon. The highly valued forest plants traditionally used by S’tieng ethnic should be domesticated and commercialized.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Zinc is an essential element and functions as cofactor for activity of plant enzymes. In this study, water management strategies and zinc supplement were combined to investigate their effects on growth and yield of OM4900 rice in the pot condition. The completely randomized design with 6 treatments and 4 replicates was employed in the experiment. Zinc was supplied at 15th day after sowing with 3 levels equivalent to 0, 15, and 30 kg of ZnSO4 per ha. There were 2 water regimes, continuous flooding and alternate wetting and drying irrigation. The result showed that alternate wetting and drying irrigation saved 671 m3 per ha, less than 36% of water usage in comparison to the continuous flooding. Zinc fertilization enhanced internode thickness, internode diameter, chlorophyll index but showed no effect on rice internode length. Yield components such as panicles per pot, filled spikelets per panicle, filled spikelet ratio were significantly improved when zinc supplemented but caused no change in the rice yield. The interactions between water managements and zinc levels were found on used water quantity, internode thickness, and filled spikelet fraction. Zinc also contributed to the improvement of harvest biomass, increased zinc accumulation in rice grain and endosperm.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study was conducted to determine the optimum microalgal species and rearing density for black sea urchin’s larvae (Diadema setosum). In the first experiment, larvae (2.0 larvae/mL) were fed with four different mixtures of algae [Nannochloropsis oculata and Chaetoceros gracillis (N+C); N. oculata and Thalassiosira sp. (N+T); Thalassiosira sp. and C. gracillis (T+C); N. oculata, Thalassiosira sp., and C. gracillis (N+T+C)] for 25 days. The results showed that the highest survival rate (60±1.5%) was found for those larvae fed with mixture of the N+T+C. Similarly, the highest growth rate in total body length (TBL), mid-body length (MBL) and body width (BD) were also found for those larvae fed with N+T+C. For the second experiment, four different rearing densities of 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0 larvae/mL were conducted. The larvae were fed with mixture of N+T+C (1:1:1). After 25 days, the highest survival rate (SR) was found in the treatment of 0.5 larvae/mL (62±2.0%) and the lowest SR was 9.0% for treatment of 4.0 larvae/mL. There was no significantly difference in the TBL, MBL and BD of those larvae rearing at the density of 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 larvae/mL, but differed significantly with those larvae rearing at density of 4.0 larvae/mL. The results suggested that the mixture of algal N. oculata, Thalassiosira sp., and C. gracillis and larval rearing at density of 0.5 larvae/mL are recommended for future study on seed production of black sea urchin.

Nguyen Trong Nghia, Dang Thi Hoang Oanh
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study was conducted to determine the pathogenicity of Edwardsiella ictaluri bacteria in red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.). A total of 22 bacterial isolates were isolated from 25 specimens of red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.)  collected from nursery ponds and grow-out cages in Hau Giang and Vinh Long provinces. The typical clinical sign of diseased fish was  white spots on the kidney and spleen. Bacterial isolates were identified as Edwardsiella ictaluri based on morphological, physiological and biochemical characteristics as well as API 20E and PCR with E. ictaluri specific primers. Results of histological analysis revealed typical characteristics of white spots in the internal organs of bacterial infected fish species including necrotic areas, structural changes in the tissue, formation of granulomas and haemorrhage on the kidney and spleen. Challenge experiments by using the injection method showed that E. ictaluri was  capable of causing white spots in the internal organ of red tilapia with pathological signs similar to naturally infected fish with white spots in the internal organs. The LD50 valued about 4,7x103 CFU/ml.

Using sustainable fisheries models for coastal fisheries in Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam province

To Van Phuong
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Quang Nam is one of the leading provinces in fisheries in Vietnam. Nui Thanh district is an important area where small-scale fisheries on nearshore waters are focused. In recent years, the overfishing status in Nui Thanh district has made the rapid depletion of coastal resources. However, only a few have studied the fisheries management aspect in this area and no quantitative research on sustainable fisheries management has been conducted. This research project was conducted from 2013 to 2015 by surveying 110 fleets to find out reference values for sustainable fisheries management in Nui Thanh district. By using Sustainable Fisheries Models, the results showed that the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) should be 26,500 tons when the fleet capacity reached 80,500 HP (fMSY). To get the maximum economic yield (MEY) estimated VND 864.5 billion, the fleet capacity should be 64,300 HP, the MSY should be 25,500 tons; at that time, the fish stock was estimated about 76,000 tons. Fisheries management polocies and solutions were proposed for Nui Thanh district’s coastal fisheries toward the sustainable development by reducing fleet capacity, building alternative career models, protecting and restoring fish stocks.

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Lam My Lan, Tran Ngoc Hai, Nguyen Hoang Vinh
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Study on co-culture of the black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) with red seaweed (Gracilaria tenuistipitata) consisted of 6 treatments in triplicate tanks. Shrimps were mono-cultured and fed commercial feed to apparent satiation as a control treatment. Other 5 treatments, shrimps were co-cultured with red seaweed and received different feeding rates of 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 0% feed ration of the control. Juvenile shrimp weight of 1.79 g were stocked at a density of 150 shrimps/m3 and red seaweed was 1 kg/m3. After 90 days of culture, the concentrations of nitrogen (TAN, NO2-, NO3- and TN) and phosphorus compounds (PO43-and TP) in the co-culture tanks were considerably lower than that in the monoculture. The survival, growth rates and productivity of shrimps in the 50% feeding ration did not statistically differ (p>0.05) from those in the control group, and the feed cost could be reduced by 49%. Additionally, red coloration of shrimps after cooking was noticeably darker in co-culture than in monoculture and there was no significant difference in the proximate composition (moisture, protein, lipid and ash) of shrimp meat among treatments except lipid. Those results indicated that application of 50% feed requirement in co-culture of the black tiger shrimp juveniles with red seaweed could be considered the optimal feed efficiency and improved water quality.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study was carried out to determine the effects of CO2 on survival, growth, digestive enzyme activity and glucose concentration of white leg shrimp from 15-day postlarvae to juvenile stage. The study was designed using a completely randomized with 4-CO2 treatments including 2.32, 7.81, 19.0 and 45.6 mg/L equal to pH of 8.1, 7.6, 7.2 and 6.8, respectively. Postlarvae of 0.019 g and 1.20 cm length were stocked at the density of 100 ind./200-L tank. After 45 days, the survival rate of shrimp in control treatment (2.32 mg/L CO2 or pH=8.1) was 70.0%, and the lowest survival rate occurred in the CO2 treatment of 45.6 mg/L (28.3%). The lowest final individual weight and length in CO2 concentration of 45.6 mg/L were 1.09 g and 4.69 cm. The lowest enzyme activities were in CO2 treatment of 45.6 mg/L. Glucose concentration was highest in 37.5 mg/100 mL. The high CO2 concentration will adversely affect growth, survival rate, reduce some digestive enzymes and increase glucose concentration in hemolymph of white leg shrimp.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study is aimed to establish the mathematical functions and tests relationships between optimal expected profit, order quantity and acquisition price in the two-echelon shrimp supply chain, considering loss aversion. The mathematical model was used to build functions and process the data through Matlab software. These data in both primary and secondary forms were collected from Minh Phu Seafood Corporation and echelons in the black tiger shrimp supply chain in Ca Mau. The results found that there was a difference in the expected profits between the centralized and the decentralized channels in optimizing profits of the echelons in these supply chains. The results also showed that the demand uncertainty and different levels of loss-averse would directly affect the inventory changes of the echelons in the shrimp supply chain.
