Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The purpose of this study is to design a closed-loop supply chain network considering the processes of supplying and recovering used products. A Mixed Integer Linear Programming model (MILP) is proposed as an initial approach to the problem. Fluctuations in raw material prices and retailer demand within the chain supply are taken into account as uncertain factors in this research. To address the problem, Compromise Programming (CP) and Fuzzy Programming (FP) techniques are utilized, which involve transforming MILP model into a model known as Multi Objective Linear Programming (MOLP). A case study of household faucets is applied to test the model. Results indicate that the CP method effectively identifies the optimal level for the decision maker, and the expected value of the corresponding objective function is not significantly affected by the arbitrariness of the decision maker.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study focuses on developing a low-cost absorbent, specifically modified biochar prepared from dragon fruit (Hylocereus sp.) branches to remove Cr(VI) in an aqueous solution. It was found that the activation process using nitric acid helped to improve the prepared biochar's surface properties, resulting in an increase in the adsorption capacity of Cr(VI) in an aqueous solution. Accordingly, the removal efficiency and adsorption capacity of Cr(VI) respectively reached 88.9% and 2.2 mg/g at the optimum condition: the absorbent dosage of 0.2 g, pH solution of 2, contact time of 90 minutes, and initial concentration of 10 mg/L. An equilibrium adsorption isotherm model and a kinetic model of Cr(VI) on the modified biochar from dragon fruit branches were fitted to experimental data. In comparison to Freundlich adsorption isotherm model, the data were well represented by the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model with a maximum adsorption capacity of 5.91 mg/g. Furthermore, the adsorption kinetic data were well described by the pseudo-second-order model with R2 of 0.9821, indicating a high agreement between experimental and calculated values.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Chalcone scaffolds play an important role in anticancer drug design. In this article, the chalcone derivatives containing heterocyclic moiety (quinazolinone, benzimidazole, benzoxazole and 1,3,4-oxadiazole) with potential anticancer activity have been reviewed on the prediction of DNA-binding. Compounds provided excellent results for DNA intercalation, compared with those of the standard at a molecular level. Molecular dynamics simulations were performed for the top four docked complexes, which indicated the structural stability of the DNA–ligand complexes. ADMET prediction was also performed for the top ligands. In summary, this study encouraged the synthesis of designed compounds and the study of their in vitro DNA interactive ability and cytotoxicity. This class of compounds might be helpful for the development of new and potential multi-target anticancer agents or drugs in the future.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study aimed to prepare and evaluate the antioxidant effect of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) hydrogel containing metformin (HPMC-Met). Firstly, the UV-Vis spectroscopic quantitative method for metformin was established and validated at a wavelength of 233 nm, which possesses a standard curve of y = 0.8224x + 0.0194 (R2 = 0.9984) in a concentration range of 0.0625-2.0000 µg/mL, and satisfies the specificity, accuracy, and precision criteria. Next, the HPMC-Met was prepared and physicochemically evaluated, in terms of appearance, gelation time, viscosity, and drug release profile. Interestingly, these properties varied proportionally to the amount of HPMC and ethanol:water ratio. Furthermore, the metformin from HPMC-Met was released sustainably in phosphate buffered pH 5.5 during 150 mins. Finally, by using DPPH (2,2 diphenyl-1 picrylhydrazyl) antioxidant test, the IC50 of metformin and HPMC-Met was both approximately 70 µg/mL. In summary, the HPMC hydrogel might be a potential drug delivery system for metformin.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) is an additive widely used in seafood processing. High concentration of phosphate in seafood processing wastewater, if not treated, will cause eutrophication leading to algal blooms, thereby polluting water bodies and affecting public health. This study aimed at the isolation of bacteria in seafood processing wastewater capable of absorption and chemotaxis towards STPP. Twenty-seven bacterial strains able to absorb STPP were isolated from water samples taken at the wastewater treatment system of a seafood processing company in Soc Trang. Eleven strains, PAE1.1, PAE1.2, PAE1.4, PAE1.6, PAE1.7, PAN1.1, PAN1.12, PAN1.5, POU1.2, POU1.3, and POU1.4, showed high biomass growth on and higher than 50% adsorption of STPP (200 ppm) after 24 hours of inoculation. Strains POU1.3, POU1.4, and PAN1.12 showing high absorption and chemotaxis towards STPP were identified as Acinetobacter sp. POU1.3, Acinetobacter sp. POU1.4, and Comamonas sp. PAN1.12 based on 16S-rRNA gene sequence analysis.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The processing of ginger tea bags can significantly impact the characteristic qualities of the product. The objective of this study is to evaluate the factors influencing the maintenance of ginger’s characteristic yellow color and its bioactive compounds, ensuring the production of high-quality tea products. The research focused on three main aspects: (i) investigating the impact of citric acid concentrations, (ii) evaluating temperatures and blanching times, and (iii) assessing NaCl salt concentrations in the soaking solution regarding the characteristic yellow color, flavor, and bioactive compounds of ginger tea. The research results indicated that soaking ginger in a 2% citric acid solution at a ratio of 1:3 (w/v) for 30 minutes achieved a great brightness value and preserved the best bioactive properties. Subsequently, blanching the citric acid-soaked ginger at 100°C for 2 minutes yielded the highest color quality. Moreover, further soaking ginger in a 1% NaCl solution at a ratio of 1:3 (w/v) reduced the pungency of the ginger tea product.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The study aimed to determine the efficiency of eco-friendly measures to prevent citrus root parasitic nematodes in citrus. Therefore, an experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with 5 replicates and 22 treatments, including: control; Ca(OH)2, KOH solution (pH: 10, 11 and 12); extracts of “sai dat” tree, neem leaves, “tram ta” leaves at 10%, 20%, 30%; Paecilomyces lilacinus at 10, 20, and 40 kg/ha; Trichoderma sp. at 20, 40 and 80 kg/ha. As a result, treatments of Ca(OH)2 solution at pH: 11 and 12, extracts of “sai dat” tree, neem leaves, “tram ta” leaves at concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30% quickly controlled parasitic nematodes but their effect decreased over time, ranging in 67.8 - 86.5% for soil (20 days after treatment-DAT), and 59.8 - 89.4% for roots (100 DAT). On the contrary, Ca(OH)2 (pH: 10) and KOH (pH: 10, 11 and 12) rapidly affected, lasting up to 40 and 60 DAT, then declining (effective ranges were 51.6 - 60.3% for soil at 20 DAT, 59.1 - 66.9% for roots at 100 DAT). In addition, Paecilomyces lilacinus (10, 20, and 40 kg/ha) and Trichoderma sp. (20, 40 and 80 kg/ha) had slow control at the beginning, which increased over time (effective range was 69.6 - 80.4% for soil and 59.7 - 82.9% for roots at 100 DAT). Moreover, measures of controlling root parasitic nematodes in citrus improved the total population of soil microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes).

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The study was carried out to determine the drought tolerance of duong orange. It was implemented from 10/2022-12/2022 in a greenhouse, the average air temperature and humidity of 33,8oC and 64,9%, respectively. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design, with 2 factors: the environment (without and with drought treatment) and the orange varieties (duong, ba la, and mat). The experiment had 30 repeats, 1 repeat was 1 plant/pot. The results showed that duong orange trees maintained their leaf color (ΔE*ab) after 25 drought days. Drought condition had less effect on the chlorophyll index of duong orange. The proline content in leaves and the ability to accumulate proline under drought condition of duong orange were both very low which indicated that duong orange were less sensitive to drought. Duong oranges trees showed signs of wilting after 23,8 drought days and the percentage of dead plants after 30 drought days was low (30%) when the sand moisture was 1,53%. Duong orange tree in drought condition was equivalent to normal conditions, the roots developed well. The plant biomass of duong orange was higher than that the others varieties under the same drought condition. Therefore, duong orange trees have good tolerance to drought conditions.

Nguyen Gia Huy, Le Thi Ngoc Tien, Tran Vu Phen
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Investigation of the interaction between the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita and the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense cause Panama wilt disease on Cavendish bananas Musa cavendish “Grande Naine”. This study aimed to evaluate the simultaneous interaction of two pathogens and how the sequential increase in nematode populations affects the symptoms of Panama wilt. The results showed that simultaneously infected with two nematode and fungal agents had lower plant growth parameters and showed more severe symptoms of wilting and nutritional deficiency compared with the experimental ones infected individually. This level increased rapidly and was aggravated by the increased number of nematodes present simultaneously. In the treatment with the nematode M. incognita (1 individual/g soil) and the fungus Fusarium oxysporum (106 spores/mL), the plant growth was reduced and lower than that of the treatment alone, and the symptoms increased and wilting was proportional to the number of nematodes M. incognita. However, in the experiment infecting 4 nematodes/g of soil interacting with 106 fungal spores/mL, the density of nematodes increased the least compared to the other infection experiments, showing that with the density of infection. Initially high, there was a competition between the two parasitic agents.

Tran Dang Tuyen
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The study focuses on applying the SARIMA model to forecast the export volume of fishmeal in Vietnam for the last 8 months of 2023, using R software, Python programming language, and insights from OpenAI's Artificial Intelligence. The research data was collected from the General Department of Vietnam Customs from January 2018 to April 2023. The research findings indicate that the most suitable model for forecasting is SARIMA(1,0,0)(1,0,0)12. Applying this forecasting model yields highly accurate results, closely aligning with export volume. Furthermore, the study proposes several recommendations for export policy planners. Specifically, it emphasizes the importance of diversifying export markets, effectively leveraging opportunities from Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), implementing rational aquaculture zoning, and regulating the export volume of fishmeal to avoid domestic shortages and the paradoxical situation of large-scale imports of fishmeal from other countries.
