Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The research was done to assess the impact of groundwater resources degradation on agriculture in the coastal area of Vinh Chau District, Soc Trang Province. The structured and semi-structured interviewing method (households and local government) was used to determine the impact of declining groundwater resources on to agricultural cultivation (vegetable and aquaculture growing) of local farmers. The obtained results showed that the groundwater resources have had signs of degradation, causing impacts on exploitation and use of groundwater especially in agriculture and aquaculture. In particular, groundwater resources degradation have caused difficulties in extracting to irrigation leading to the increase of time and cost in irrigating, upgrading of pumping equipment. Moreover, groundwater resources degradation has also led to the increase in the number of well (drilling deeper wells in order to ensure enough water for irrigation because of the shortage of water of the former wells). The result of the study is the basis for supporting decision, planning, management and mining licensing for coastal provinces in the Mekong Delta.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Nitrogen biofertilizer was made from Burkholderia vietnamiensis CT1 in Burk's liquid without nitrogen (Park et al., 2005). It was stored for more than 3 months, then mixed with germinated seeds of high-yield rice (cv. OM4218). The efficacy of Burkholderia vietnamiensis CT1 was investigated on the OM4218 rice growth under pots condition, in the summer-autumn crop of 2016. The results showed that nitrogen biofertilizer of the Burkholderia vietnamiensis CT1 could replace up to 50% of N used for high-yield rice grown in pots, which had a significant effect on biomass accumulation, number of effective shoots of rice bush and the yild of rice harvested per pot compared to the control. The effect of nitrogen biofertilizer also affected significantly the accumulation of protein in the rice kernel and maintained the total N in the soil after rice harvest. In conclusion, Burkholderia vietnamiensis CT1 can provide up to 50% of the biological nitrogen needed for the growth and development of the OM4218 high-yield rice planted in pots.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
To identify molecular markers linked to salt-tolerant gene of rice, both phenotypic and genotypic evaluation of salt tolerance were performed atseedling stage. The phenotypic screening forsalinity stress at EC=12 mS/cm was doneusing the standard protocol of the International Rice Research Institute. About 23.7% of rice varieties were identified as salt tolerant, 28.9% were moderately tolerant, 39.5% were susceptible and 7.9% were highly susceptible. Two SSR markers (RM493 and RM3412) have shown the ability (over 70%) for salt tolerant identification in all groups. Additionally, 36 rice varieties were grouped into 7 major clusters by UPGMA method based on these markers. Most of tolerant genotypes belonged to cluster I while moderately tolerant genotypes were in cluster II and III. From clusters IV to VII included susceptible and highly susceptible genotypes. These results indicated that RM493 and RM3412 were useful for marker assisted selection at seedling stage.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
A factorial experiment design with eight treatments, and three replicates for each, was carried out to evaluate the combined effect of C/N ratios (5, 10, 15 and non C/N manipulated cultures) and feeding regimes (standard feeding regime (SF) and 2/3 SF) on performance and biomass production of Artemia franciscana under laboratory conditions. The result showed that the growth in length of Artemia was reduced as a result of reduced feeding regime; however, Artemia length was increased when molasses was added. However, the survival of Artemia was not improved by molasses addition into Artemia culture. The Artemia biomass production was reduced by reducing feeding regime, but the biomass production increased when molasses was added into the culture, especially Artemia biomass production was significantly increased (p < 0.05) in the treatment with SF and C/N 15 and 2/3 SF and C/N 5 as compared to that obtained in the respective control treatment. The results indicated that Artemia length and biomass production were improved when molasses was added to obtain C/N ratios at 5 and 15, especially biomass production at reduced feeding regime (2/3 SF) was nearly equal to that obtained in SF when C/N 5 was applied.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The study on the fishing activities of inshore trawlers and inshore gill nets was conducted from March to December 2017 in Bac Lieu province. The results showed that the inshore trawlers and inshore gill nets had highest number of fishing boats and yields. Trawlers and gill nets can capture whole year round, and the main fishing season was from November to coming April. The scale of gill net boats was (41.3±14.2 CV), larger than that (36.1±15.1 CV) of trawl boats. The yield and ratio of trash fish of gill nets were (13.5±3.9 tons/year; 16.8%) lower than those (18.7±2.4 tons/year; 41.2%) of trawlers, but profits and benefit ratios of gill nets (429±311 million VND, 1.05±1.03 times, respectively) were higher than those of trawlers (162±162 million VND, 0.68±0.64 times, respectively). Therefore, in the future, government should promote developing gill nets and restrict development of trawlers. For the sustainable development of trawl nets and gill nets, the development and management of fisheries resources should be promoted, supporting fishermen to access low interest rates to invest in production, and training fishermen to use fishing equipment to increase their fishing efficiency.

Nguyen Thi Bao Anh
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Health practitioners who give diagnosis and treat treatment – called doctors in the scope of this research – are highly clarified among the noble proefessions. However, similar to other professions, if they negligently cause omissions, they must be responsible for the damage. Medical malpractice is defined as any act or omission by a physician during treatment of a patient that deviates from accepted norms of practice in the medical community and causes an injury to the patient (translated from the definition of Medical malpractice, abbrreviated MM). MM is a problem occurring all over the world in different levels. In this study, on the basis of the general provisions of the MM generally applied in the Member States of the European Union, the study is to focus on analyzing and comparing the two legal systems of Belgium and England. Whereby, the following contents will be studied on negligent omissions, the elements which establish doctor’s liability, the common negligent omissions, and systems of compensation for damage. The research shows that although the Belgian and English legislations have similarities, there are differencies to adjust the malpractice of the doctors.
