Nguyen Thi Hong Nam
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Can Tho University is undergoing the process of undergraduate curriculum restructurings. The question posed is how to design the curriculum and courses in order to develop students’ competence meeting social needs and future career? In this paper. The authors outline: (1) standards and intended learning outcomes; (2) competence; (3) an integrated approach to course planning, including three elements: intended learning outcomes, assessment and teaching and learning activities (Biggs and Tang, 2011). Each element aligns closely to others. Using this model in course planning will answer a part of the above mentioned question.

Heritage and heritage education for high school students

Duong Quynh Phuong, Do Van Hao
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Study on heritage and heritage education in high schools is crucial to distinguish ỉnto 3 groups, including natural, cultural and mixed heritage. Each classified heritage has specific criteria. The heritages recognized by UNESCO must be of outstanding global value in terms of science, preservation or natural beauty, and historical, artistic and science opinion. Currently, in high schools, the introduction of heritage into teaching and organizing experience activities for students also has many challenges. Teachers often educate students primarily about the meaning, role and value of heritage, while in reality, the legacy is increasingly degraded and needed protection, the education of consciousness and responsibility preserving the heritage is still vague. In order to educate students about heritages effectively, depending on the conditions of each area and the characteristics of each educational level; each school should have a suitable organization, along with close coordination with the local authorities in selecting models, topics of heritage education for students.

Teaching Medieval Vietnamese Literature in High School Based on the Learners’ Capacity Approach

Nguyen Duc Thang
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Teaching in accordance with the capacity approach is based on the  learners’ ability system to nourish and develop  those abilities appropriately and effectively so that each learner will be able to obtain the knowledge, the capabity and life skills to achieve specific goals. In this approach, teaching Medieval Vietnamese Literature to High school students needs to be based on their own general and specific capabilities to build up and develop these capacities to their fullest potentials, to help them achieve the valuable knowledge and quintessence of this historic part of literature (including aesthetics, humanity and speech). The students can then transform and make effective use of those values in their work and real lives. The research shows that the combination of mastering the capacity approach in teaching, knowledge of characteristics of Medieval Vietnamese literarature and other positive teaching methods will bring practical results in both teaching and learning Medieval Vietnamese literarature.

Applying a calculating program for analysis of models of the low-dimensional quantum systems

Luong Le Hai, Chuluunbaatar O., Vinitsky S. I., Gusev A. A., Tran Thi Lua
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
In the paper, a calculating program named “KANTBP 4M – A program for solving boundary problems of the self-adjoint system of ordinary second order differential equations” is presented. The computational schemes and algorithms are implemented in the form of problem-oriented complexes programs in the Maple environment for the numerical and qualitative study of mathematical models of low-dimensional quantum systems in external fields, which are reduced to boundary value problems for systems of ordinary second order differential equations with real- valued variable coefficients and homogeneous boundary conditions. The reduced boundary value problems are solved by KANTBP 4M program, the code of which is based on the high-order finite element method with interpolation Hermite polynomials. The mathematical models are studied by the KANTBP 4M as: the eigenvalue and scattering problems for the Schrodinger equation with the one-dimensional and d- dimensional potentials in real form; the eigenvalue and scattering problems with constant or piece-wise continuous potentials; and the multichannel scattering problem of tunneling of two identical particles with the oscillator interaction through the potential barrier, etc.

Teaching and learning modern Vietnamese short stories in current literature of high school using competency-based development

Phan Thi No
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This paper is aimed to apply competency-based development in teaching and learning methods in modern Vietnamese short stories in the current high school literature. The process of the teaching and learning includes pre-teaching preparation, conducting teaching in class, and post-teaching assessment. In which, the teaching in class need to apply the teaching method actively, flexibly and creatively.

Developing competency of data based historical event evaluation for high school students

Duong Tan Giau, Giang Hoang Thai
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
On the basis of some concepts of competence, competency development, assessing events, competency to assess events, developing the competency to evaluate events in history teaching at high school and the superiority of data, the paper proposes measures to exploit data to develop competence for students, such as using single data (to create symbol for student) and extracting data tables (via some simple math, guide for student to give comment).

The influences of process-based teaching methodology on students’ development in writing social argumentative essays

Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa, Nguyen Van No
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Process-based teaching methodology for writing is a method being studied and applied to teaching practices by many educators in the world with positive results. However, in our high schools nowadays, the implementation of this method is still limited. In this article, the authors illustrate how to instruct students to write essays based on 4 stages of writing process. This study aims to answer three questions: (a) how does process-based writing instruction work toward developing students' skills regarding writing social debating essays? (b) does writing instruction based on process enhance students’ thinking competence? (c) can this method be applied to teaching writing in high schools?. Also in this article, the authors present the study results of process-based method, with the case of 11th grade students.

Improving competence of writing an explanatory text of students by sample analysis in teaching reading comprehension

Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh, Do Thanh An
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
To create a certain type of text, students need to capture the characteristics of that type of text. These features need to be generalized from many sample texts, through the process of reading text. Therefore, the combination of teaching reading comprehension and teaching writing is essential and sample analysis is an effective measure. The analysis of texts available in textbooks (or selected by teachers) in the process of reading comprehension and modeling for the creation of similar texts has contributed to the development of the writing competence for learners, especially with explanatory text, a kind of highly objective informational text.

School-based curriculum development in relation to teaching with theme-based appoaches and teachers’ awareness - A case study of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai gifted high school in Soc Trang province

Huynh Vu Lam
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Teachers of high schools need to design the teaching plan with theme-based approaches to promote learners' competence in order to meet the request of the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training. However, the implementation of this policy has had difficulty due to the problems in the current program distribution. To overcome the situation that builds up the topic by connecting various subjects in rigid way and supporting teachers to effectively use active teaching methods, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai gifted high school, Soc Trang province, has developed a school-based curriculum in recent years. In fact, building school's program not only meets the school's educational goals but also changes the teachers' awareness.
