Abstract

PDF (Tiếng Việt)

This study proposes a deep learning-based model using ResNet50 for image classification in scientific articles to detect similarity and improve image similarity search. The model employs a pre-trained ResNet50 combined with a dataset of 12,049 images categorized into 11 classes extracted from the Can Tho University Journal of Science using PyMuPDF. The Activation Map Visualization method highlights training data regions through the first six channels of each different layer in the deep learning model. The results indicate that the proposed approach achieves exceeding 90% reliability in detecting image similarity and can identify the original article’s author and publication year. ResNet50 is also compared with AlexNet and VGG16, demonstrating superior generalization capability for complex image recognition tasks. The result establishes a foundation for developing an image similarity detection system for scientific publications.
Dynamic analysis of space frame system using dynamic stiffness method considering the effect of axial forces
Abstract

PDF (Tiếng Việt)

The main purpose of the study is to analyze the dynamics of space frames using the dynamic stiffness matrix method. The research presents the construction of dynamic stiffness matrices for straight frame elements subjected to axial force, torsion, and bending, taking into account the effect of axial force of the frame. These matrices are then used to develop the dynamic stiffness matrix for generalized frame elements and apply it to the dynamic analysis of space frame systems, including determining natural frequencies and mode shapes, as well as analyzing structural displacements under harmonic dynamic loading. A comparison of the results obtained using the dynamic stiffness matrix method with those obtained using the finite element method demonstrates the accuracy of the dynamic stiffness matrix method.
Application of artificial intelligence algorithm to classify and forecast the distribution of vegetation cover using landsat images – study area in the coastal zone of Ba Ria Vung Tau province
Abstract

PDF (Tiếng Việt)

The automatic and continuous updates along with predictions of changes in vegetation cover are essential prerequisites for identifying solutions for rational planning and resource management. This study classified automatically various vegetation covers using Landsat images from 1988 to 2024 in Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu province. The Random Forest (RF) algorithm on the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform was applied to classify vegetation. Subsequently, the Hidden Markov Model (HMM) and Bayesian network were applied to forecast the distribution of vegetation cover in the future (up to 2030). The classification and prediction results, with high accuracy (over 87%), demonstrate the advantages of applying artificial intelligence (AI) in remote sensing, supporting monitoring efforts and decision-making in planning for resource and ecosystem management activities.

Abstract

PDF (Tiếng Việt)

This research assesses the polyphenol and flavonoid contents, antioxidant activity, and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity of the flowers, leaves, and stems of Cosmos bipinnatus using two different extraction solvents: 96% ethanol and 50% ethanol. The findings reveal that 50% ethanol is more effective at extracting polyphenols, while 96% ethanol extracts more flavonoids. Among the plant parts, the flowers contain the highest levels of polyphenols and flavonoids, followed by the leaves and stems. Extracts from the flowers also demonstrated the strongest antioxidant activity, as evaluated by IC50 values in DPPH assays (from 24.78 to 28.62 µg/mL) and reducing power assays (0.34 to 0.36 µg/mL). Additionally, the flowers and leaves exhibited better α-glucosidase inhibitory activity compared to the stems, with the 96% ethanol extract from the flowers showing the strongest inhibition (IC50 = 28.92 µg/mL), approximately 1.6 times higher than the 50% ethanol extract. The correlation between the concentrations of the investigated compounds and the observed bioactivities further emphasizes the crucial role of these compounds in the biological activities of Cosmos bipinnatus (p < 0.01).

This study aimed to analyze and evaluate the scale, consumption status, and quality of products produced by the honeybee industry in various districts of Tien Giang Province. The results indicated that the beekeeping scale encompasses 25105 total beehives recorded from 2018 to 2022, with a total honey production of 448120 kg, bee pollen of 3000 kilograms, and beeswax of 16144 kg. The average prices of the products traders purchase were 124000 VND per kg of honey, 135000 VND per kg of bee pollen, and 110000 VND per kg of beeswax. The physicochemical properties of honey in the three districts of Tan Phuoc, Cai Be, and Tan Phu Dong were also determined, including moisture content from 19% to 22%, insoluble solid content from 0.09 ± 0.003 to 0.158 ± 0.018%, free acid content from 30.49 ± 0.49 to 46.99 ± 2.29 mg acid equivalent/1000g, hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) content from 0.038 ± 0.01 to 0.98 ± 0.02 mg/100g, diastase activity from 4.09 ± 0.16 to 5.303 ± 0.26 Schade units, antioxidant activity from 0.47 ± 0.01 to 12.8 ± 0.8 mg ascorbic acid equivalent/g dry matter, and free reducing sugar content from 60.55 ± 4.6 to 67 ± 1.5 g/100g.

PDF (Tiếng Việt)

The study was conducted to identify the causal agent of soft rot disease in Chinese cabbage and the efficacy of Bacillus genus in controlling the disease. Seven strains of the Pectobacterium genus gave the symptom of soft rot belonging to Koch’s postulate and biochemical method. In which, the bacteria with the code of AG7 gave the best pathogenicity and identified the species of Pectobacterium carotovorum by 16SrRNA gen sequencing compared to National Center for Biotechnology Information combined with tested the ability growth on the Tween 80. Evaluation of the efficacy of three Bacillus spp. strains in controlling the soft rot on Chinese cabbage with three applications (before infection, after infection, combined before and after infection) in vitro. The result showed that Bacillus 41 gave lower in the infected lesion length than the control untreated. Furthermore, the timing application of Bacillus 41 before infection or combined before and after infection expressed lower in the infected lesion length than after infection method.

PDF (Tiếng Việt)

This study evaluated the effectiveness of using Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) Vifish.18 on Khanh Hoa province’s fishing vessels. The study carried out from November 2023 to April 2024, the study surveyed 84 fishers who were owners and captains of Khanh Hoa fishing vessels equipping VMS Vifish.18. The study’s findings show that 81.1% of 650 vessels were installed with Vifish.18; 54% fishers stated that Vifish.18 was used very effective. Fisher's assessment of the functions related to reporting fishing vessel location, tracking journeys, and sending SOS alerts of Vifish.18 was also highly effective, accounting for the highest percentages of 71.4%, 81%, and 71.4%, respectively. On the other hand, 32% of surveyed fishers rated the operating costs as high and very high, and 15% of participants reported that the repair and troubleshooting services of Vifish.18 were slow to very slow. The study has provided significant scientific data to help manage, inspect and monitor Khanh Hoa fishing vessels operating at sea effectively, supporting the removal of the European Commission's Yellow card in the coming time.
