Partial lower semicontinuity and a new approach to Ekeland’s variational principle for interval-valued functions
Abstract
This paper proposes a concept that is considerably lighter than the previously studied lower semicontinuous forms of interval-valued functions, termed partial lower semicontinuity. Based on a relaxed assumption of the lower semicontinuity for the objective function, extended versions of Ekeland's variational principle for interval-valued functions in complete metric spaces are proposed. The obtained results are entirely new and extend recently published results in related fields. To clarify the ideas, the paper provides numerous specific examples, helping readers easily visualize and grasp the essence of the new concepts and results.
