Primary English teachers’ self-efficacy in teaching methods after a pedagogical training course
Abstract
This study aims to explore primary English teachers’ self-efficacy in their teaching methods and factors influencing it after they participated in a pedagogical training course under the National Foreign Language Project 2020. The research employed a Likert scale self-efficacy survey and a follow-up interview to collect responses from 103 primary school teachers from provinces in the Mekong Delta and the Southeastern region. Findings indicate that the teachers’ confidence improved greatly. Influential factors included training content that matched real classroom needs, effective training methods, and positive feedback from colleagues and students. The results suggest that a training program grounded in practical realities—emphasizing hands-on practice, observation, and feedback—can enhance teachers’ self-efficacy.
