Abstract

This study aims to design and develop a mobile application that provides information about artifacts displayed in the Weapons Exhibition Area of the Military Zone 9 Museum, Can Tho, Vietnam. The objective is to enhance visitor experience and promote historical awareness among the public. The research employs You Only Look Once (YOLO) models - versions 8s, 11s, and 12 (n, s, m) - to train and evaluate performance on a dataset of over 15,000 images collected directly from the museum, categorized into 16 main artifact groups. Experimental results on a device equipped with 4 GB RAM and an 8-core 2.4 GHz CPU demonstrate that YOLOv12s achieves a balanced trade-off among efficiency (3.6 FPS with a bandwidth of 14,25 MB/s), model size (9.9 MB), and accuracy mAP₀,₅ = 97.5%. The application enables detailed retrieval of historical information and achieved an average user satisfaction score of 83,85/100. This research contributes to advancing digital transformation and promoting cultural heritage dissemination in Vietnam.
