Abstract
In this paper, we focus on proving the general formula and properties of the Green function on a finite set for the one-dimensional and two-dimensional simple random walk. Based on the connection between the Green function and the exit distribution, the resulting Green function formula admits a clear probabilistic interpretation as the expected number of visits before the walk exits the domain. Finally, we pose and solve a problem for a three-point set A on the two-dimensional lattice, using matrix computations and the solution of a linear system.
