Nghiên cứu sự khác biệt trong hành vi tiết kiệm giữa hộ gia đình ở thành thị và nông thôn
Abstract
The study was conducted to examine the saving behavior of households living in urban and rural areas. Based on survey data from 456 households, descriptive statistics, comparative methods, the t-test, the Mann-Whitney test, and discriminant analysis were employed. The findings reveal that a large proportion of both urban and rural households maintain a certain level of savings, with savings forms being fairly diverse, among which bank deposits are the most popular. The discriminant analysis highlights that the variables including respondent’s age, years of schooling, household size, number of children, average income, wife’s income ratio in the total household income, expenditure-to-income ratio, current indebtedness, and savings held in cash—were found to significantly discriminate between the two groups. Based on these results, the paper proposes several recommendations to improve the effectiveness of household saving.
