Abstract
The study was conducted to analyze and clarify the prominent primary and secondary functions of conceptual metaphor (CM) in both everyday language and poetry. In everyday communication, CM has six primary and 18 secondary functions, while in poetry, it has four primary and six secondary functions. Additionally, this research reinforces the view that metaphor is omnipresent—not only in language but also in thought. The conceptual systems of both non-poets and poets are largely metaphorical. The study further demonstrates CM's significant role in everyday language, poetry, and cognition. Understanding CM's functions is crucial for unlocking insights into thought processes, language, worldview, and philosophy of life for poets and non-poets alike.

Nghiên cứu được thực hiện nhằm phân tích, minh định các chức năng chính, phụ nổi trội của ẩn dụ ý niệm (ADYN) trong ngôn ngữ thường nhật và trong thơ. Theo đó, trong giao tiếp thường nhật, ADYN có sáu chức năng chính và 18 chức năng phụ. Trong thơ, ADYN có bốn chức năng chính và sáu chức năng phụ. Ngoài ra, kết quả nghiên cứu này còn củng cố quan điểm, rằng ẩn dụ tồn tại khắp nơi, không chỉ trong ngôn ngữ mà còn trong cả tư duy. Hệ thống ý niệm trong tư duy của cả người bình thường lẫn nhà thơ phần lớn đều mang tính ẩn dụ. Điều này cũng cho thấy ADYN có chức năng quan trọng trong ngôn ngữ thường nhật, trong thơ cũng như trong tư duy của người bình thường và nhà thơ. Kết quả nghiên cứu còn giúp hiểu được chức năng của ADYN là chìa khóa quan trọng để mở ra sự hiểu biết về tư duy, ngôn ngữ cũng như thế giới quan, nhân sinh quan của cả nhà thơ lẫn những người không phải nhà thơ.
