Synthesis of MAPbI₃ perovskite material by the evaporation method
Abstract
Perovskite CH₃NH₃PbI₃ (MAPbI₃) is a highly promising light‐absorbing material for solar cell applications. To achieve high efficiency, the perovskite film must exhibit full surface coverage, optimal thickness, and a low residual PbI₂ content. In this study, the parameters affecting the quality of MAPbI₃ films, including PbI₂ concentration, spin‐coating speed, and the reaction time between methylammonium iodide (MAI) and lead(II) iodide (PbI₂) during vacuum evaporation, were investigated using a simple and low-cost fabrication process that is well suited to laboratory conditions. The properties of the thin films were characterized using various techniques. The crystal structure and phase composition were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The surface morphology and grain size were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The film thickness was measured using a stylus profilometer. In addition, the optical properties of the films were analyzed by ultraviolet–visible absorption spectroscopy (UV–Vis spectroscopy). The results show that with a PbI₂ concentration of 1.25 M, a spin-coating speed of 4000 rpm, and a reaction time of 50 min, the fabricated perovskite solar cell achieved a power conversion efficiency of 9.04%.
