Abstract

The current study investigates the extent of strategies used in multiple-choice tests by 131 EFL students of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted, Vinh Long city, Vietnam. The sample means of all of the three strategies ? cognitive, metacognitive, and compensation (M = 3.61, SD = .51; M = 3.64, SD = .54; M = 4.11, SD = .46, respectively) were shown. On the basis of the findings, the researchers made some pedagogical implications for teaching and learning English in Vietnamese high school context.
Keywords: metacognitive, compensation, multiple-choice tests
