Abstract

Sociolinguistics is a Language Science born in the early 1960s in the Western countries. On the social side, it was derived from the socio-economic crisis of the industrialized countries. In terms of epistemology, it was born from the inability of traditional linguistics and structural linguistics in solving linguistic problems posed by life. This article summerizes the process of formation of sociolinguistics, different concepts on its characteristics and research objects, and major schools of this new discipline. Especially, the author highlights the sociolinguistic school of Rouen, which forms many doctors of language sciences, including sociolinguistics.

Tóm tắt

Ngôn ngữ học xã hội là một ngành khoa học ngôn ngữ ra đời vào đầu những năm 1960 ở các nước phương Tây. Về phương diện xã hội, nó bắt nguồn từ sự khủng hoảng kinh tế xã hội của các nước công nghiệp hóa. Về phương diện khoa học luận, nó ra đời từ sự bất lực của ngôn ngữ học truyền thống và ngôn ngữ học cấu trúc trong việc giải quyết các vấn đề ngôn ngữ do cuộc sống đặt ra. Bài viết này trình bày tóm tắt quá trình hình thành của ngôn ngữ học xã hội, những quan niệm khác nhau về đặc điểm và đối tượng nghiên cứu của nó, và những trào lưu chủ yếu của ngành học mới mẻ này. Đặc biệt, tác giả nhấn mạnh trường phái của Đại học Rouen (Pháp), nơi đã đào tạo cho Việt Nam nhiều tiến sĩ về khoa học ngôn ngữ.
