Abstract

The study was surveyed with 224 of 385 Alumni of Department of Library and Information Management/ Information Studies (from June 2015 to May 2016) to examine how necessary our curiculum is, what alumni’hard skills and soft skills are required; and how high their proficiency in English and ICT is needed in order to participate in the labor market. The results showed that most of the fundamental and specialized subjects of LIM (Library and Information Management) programs are indispensable. Whether LIM Alumni work in the information area or not, our curirculum is likely to meet the needs of employers and the society. However, there are some things that need to be improved or updated to make our curiculum more effective Therefore, recommended solutions to enhance graduates’ employment are suggested.

Tóm tắt

Chúng tôi đã khảo sát 224 cựu sinh viên (CSV) trong tổng số 385 CSV ngành Quản trị Thông tin thư viện /Thông tin học trong khoảng thời gian từ tháng 6/2015 đến tháng 5/2016 để lắng nghe từ các sinh viên tốt nghiệp về mức độ cần thiết của chương trình đào tạo; các kỹ năng (KN) cứng, KN mềm đã được học; và trình độ tiếng Anh và tin học cần thiết khi các em tham gia vào thị trường lao động… Kết quả cho thấy, đa số các ý kiến cho rằng các học phần cơ sở và chuyên ngành trong chương trình đào tạo là cần thiết. Dù các CSV làm việc đúng ngành hay trái ngành, hiện tại đào tạo ngành Thông tin học tại Khoa Khoa học Xã hội & Nhân văn-Trường Đại học Cần Thơ nhìn chung là đáp ứng được nhu cầu của các nhà tuyển dụng và sự phát triển của xã hội, song vẫn còn nhiều điều cần cải thiện để quá trình tìm việc của CSV ngành hiệu quả hơn. Vì thế, nhóm nghiên cứu đã đề xuất các giải pháp để nâng cao khả năng có việc làm của sinh viên ngành.
