Abstract
|
PDF (Tiếng Việt)

The purpose of this study was to prepare ZnO nanofibers based on carbon with precursors of polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) and zinc nitrate (Zn(NO3)2) by an electrospinning method. The electrospinning parameters of PVP/Zn(NO3)2 were investigated, including the concentration of PVP, amount of Zn(NO3)2, applied voltage, and flow rate. The morphology of electrospun nanofibers was observed under a scanning electron microscope (SEM). At the optimum condition, the electrospun PVP/Zn(NO3)2 nanofibers were calcinated in nitrogen at 500°C for 1 hour to covert ZnO nanoparticles based on carbon fibers. The morphology and size of ZnO nanoparticles based on carbon nanofibers were determined by a transmission electron microscope (TEM). The formation of ZnO crystals in the ZnO/carbon fibers was determined by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Thus, ZnO nanoparticles based on carbon fibers were succesfully prepared.

Analysis of production efficency of certified striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) farming in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam
Abstract
|
PDF (Tiếng Việt)

The efficiency of striped catfish production was evaluated by Cobb-Douglas stochastic production frontier model. The technical efficiency (TE) was estimated in average of 69%, in which, the TE of certified farms was higher than non-certified farms (77% compared to 65%). The productivity losses due to inefficient use of the inputs were 262 tons/ha/crop, in which for the non-certified and certified groups were 295 tons/ha/crop and 182 tons/ha/crop, respectively. The main reason is that farmers used inputs ineffectively and unreasonably. Input factors that affected (positive correlation) production efficiency included stocking density, FCR, labor days, drugs, and chemical costs. Factors resulted in inefficiency of production included the number of trainings, treatment ponds, grow-out ponds, and culture period.
Potential applications of C-type lectin from white leg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei in prevention of acute hepatopancreatic necrosis disease caused by Vibrio parahaemolyticus in farmed shrimp
Abstract
|
PDF (Tiếng Việt)

Similar to other invertebrates, shrimp lectin repertoires are ample and complex. Until now, seven lectin families have been identified in shrimp. Considering their abundance and diversity, C-type lectin (CTL) occupies important positions in the shrimp immune system. It plays important roles in innate immune responses as pattern recognition receptors, opsonins, and involved in cell signaling. Recently, a CTL from white leg shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei was identified able to agglutinate Vibrio parahaemolyticus, which is the causative agent of acute hepatopacreatic necrosis disease (AHPND) in shrimp. The application of genetic engineering and recombinant protein for enhancing CTL expression when using as supplemented probiotics in feed is an approach that helps prevent bacteria in general and V. parahaemolyticus in particular. This review proposes a specific approach from genes to recombinant proteins and discuss the potential appications of C-type lectin from white leg shrimp L. vannamei in prevention of AHPND-causing V. parahaemolyticus in farmed shrimp.

Abstract
|
PDF (Tiếng Việt)

The study aimed to determine the optimal energy ratio (protein/lipid) for snakehead fish (Channa striata) fingerlings 6.5 g cultured in two environmental conditions, 28oC-0‰ and high temperature and salinity (34oC-9‰). There were six diet treatments consisting three levels of protein (40, 45 and 50%) and two levels of lipid (7 and 10%) corresponding and the dietary ratios energy originated from protein/lipid 3.41; 3.36; 3.82; 2.49; 2.71 and 3.03, respectively over a 60-day period. The results showed that the high temperature and salinity (34oC-9‰) of cultured environment significantly reduced the survival rate, growth, feed intake, FCR, the utilization efficiency, and retention of nutrients (protein and lipid), but did not affect HSI (hepatosomatic index) of snakehead. The dietary ratio of energy originated from protein and lipids influenced growth, the utilization efficiency, and retention of nutrients (protein and lipid). The optimal dietary ratio of energy protein/lipid for snakehead is 3.5 at the cultured condition 28oC-0‰, and 3.37 at high temperature and salinity (34oC-9‰).

PDF (Tiếng Việt)

This study was conducted to observe the impact of dietary supplementation of Pseuderanthemum palatiferum (Wall.) Radlk leaf extract on growth and non-specific immune response of striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus). The experiment was randomly designed with 4 triplicated treatments including 0%, 0.02%, 0.1%, and 0.5% Pseuderanthemum palatiferum (Wall.) Radlk leaf extract. Total red blood cells, total white blood cells, lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils, thrombocytes and lysozyme activities were observed for immune responses at the 3rd and the 6th week post-feeding and the 3rd day post challenge with pathogenic bacteria. The results showed that the treatments of supplemented 0.02%, 0.1%, and 0.5% extract did not significantly affect the growth of striped catfish. The total red blood cell and total white blood cell counts significantly increased in supplemented extract treatments if compared to the control. After 6-week feeding, lysozyme activity was highest (90,7 mg/mL) in treatment of 0.5%. After challenge with Edwardsiella ictaluri, the results indicated that mortality rates in 0.1% and 0.5% treatments were lower than those of the control treatment. These results suggested that the supplemention of Pseuderanthemum palatiferum (Wall.) Radlk leaf extract in diets could improve the immune responses and reduce the mortality of striped catfish after being challenged with E. ictaluri.

SSR13251 and SSR18956 markers application for sex determination in cucumber
Abstract
|
PDF (Tiếng Việt)

In the cucumber hybrid breeding process, the use of gynoecious lines as a maternal line has many advantages such as decreasing the breed confusion caused by self-pollination, requiring lesss labor for removing male or covering female flowers, making use of insects for pollinating, and ensuring high yield. Molecular marker is a useful tool to early and accurately identify cucumber gynoecious lines. This study investigated the correlation between the two molecular markers e.g. SSR13251 and SSR18956 with the sex of flowers of 50 pure cucumber samples (19 gynoecious lines, 31 monoecious lines). PCR reactions were performed to amplify the target sequences. The results showed that SSR13251 marker did not distinguish the different cucumber lines. Meanwhile, the PCR product size of SSR18956 marker differed among cucumber lines that helped to exactly identify the gynoecious lines. After screening 50 pure cucumber samples with SSR18956 marker, the compatibility between this marker and the sexual phenotype of cucumber flowers was 84%. Therefore, the SSR18956 marker could be a potential marker to identify the gynoecious lines in cucumber.

Abstract
|
PDF (Tiếng Việt)

Investigating the connectedness between countries is one of the most interesting research topics of economists. This paper is designed to determine the level and direction of the connectedness across ASEAN-6 stock markets including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The Diebold and Yilmaz (2012) method to calculate the spillover index is applied in combination with the rolling window technique based on data on daily return from 2012 to 2019. Both static and dynamic spillover indices demonstrate a high level of connectedness among ASEAN-6, nearly 27%. However, only 4 out of these 6 countries are well connected, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore. Vietnam and Philippines play roles as receivers in ASEAN-6 markets, while Malaysia and Singapore are the countries that play more active roles in the region as senders.

Abstract
|
PDF (Tiếng Việt)

Penta-graphene nanoribbons (PGNRs), an one-dimensional (1D) narrow strip of penta-graphene (PG) hold great potential for applications in sensors. In this paper, the adsorption behaviors of CO, CO2 and NH3 on the edge of the N-doped Sawtooth Penta-Graphene Nanoribbons (N:SSPGNRs) are investigated by calculating the adsorption energy, charge transfer, adsorption distance, electron density difference, density of states, and partial density of states from first principles method. It was found that the adsorption of CO and CO2 on N:SSPGNR edge shows chemical adsorption, meanwhile the adsorption of NH3 shows physical adsorption. Our results are proposed to predict and understand the CO, CO2 and NH3 adsorpted behaviors on N:SSPGNR edge. This is to guide experimental physicists to apply N:SSPGNRs for gas sensor development.
