Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This research introduces a vendor-managed inventory (VMI) model for a multi-supplier single-manufacturer supply chain where the upstream members can be traders and-or producers and the downstream member is a producer.  The principal objective of this paper is to minimize the cost of transportation, inventory, and penalty for a textile supply chain. The utilization of three types of trucks (small-medium-big) for delivering suitable replenished quantity that reduces transportation cost remarkably. Moreover, to decrease the inventory and penalty level, the upper limit is set to balance the replenished quantity from upstream. The best solution for this paper is found out by implementing in Python software and sensitivity analysis is performed to demonstrate the usefulness of the VMI model.

Do Thi My Phuong, Le Hoang Viet, Nguyen Xuan Loc
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
In this study, chitosan was extracted from Penaeus monodon shrimp shell waste and was used as a bio-sorbent to remove Methyl Orange (MO) dye in aqueous solution. Batch adsorption experiments were carried out to evaluate the influence of solution pH, chitosan dosage, contact time and initial MO concentration on the adsorption process. The study was conducted with varying contact time from 1 to 720 min, adsorbent dose from 0.1 to 3 g, adsorbate concentration from 10 to 200 mg/L, and pH from 3 to 10. The results showed that adsorption of MO by chitosan reached equilibrium after 240 min. The maximum adsorption capacity of MO calculated by Langmuir model was 23.1 mg/g obtained at room temperature (25°C), pH of 3, chitosan dose of 0.2 g and MO concentration of 50 mg/L. The kinetics of the adsorption process followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model with the correlation coefficient R2 of 0.96. The Langmuir isotherm adsorption model described well the MO adsorption process, with R2 of 0.97. The study demonstrated that the chitosan can be extracted from shrimp shells simply and can be effectively used to remove Methyl Orange anionic dye in aqueous solution.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of domestic wastewater treatment using/applying a combined moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) and handmade membrane filter column operated at different hydraulic retention times (HRT). The laboratory scale of 45.54 L MBBR containing 40% K3 media and a membrane filter column made by groundwater filter column and tulle were used. The results showed that a loading rate of 0.47 kg BOD5/m3/day to the MBBR, and loading rate to membrane filter column of 0.79 m3/m2/day, the HRT of 6 hours, the effluent wastewater met the QCVN 14:2008/BTNMT (column A) with BOD5 treatment efficiency of 94.6%; COD of 86.6%; N-NH4+ of 88.2%, and TP of 67.6%. For the HRT of 5 hours, the loading rate through MBBR of 0.77 kg BOD/m3/day, and through the membrane filter column of 0.95 m3/m2/day, the output wastewater reached QCVN 14:2008/BTNMT (column A), in which the BOD5 treatment efficiency was 89.5%, COD 89.4%, N-NH4+ 84.5%, and TP 57.6%. Therefore, the combined MBBR and handmade membrane filter column can be applied to treat domestic wastewater that reaches QCVN 14:2008/BTNMT (column A) at HRT of 5 hours.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
The limitation of the method Monte Carlo Naïve (MCN) was presented in this paper. This method is used to estimate the probability of rare events (events with very small probability). In the MCN method, to be able to observe rare events, it is necessary to initialize very large simulation samples. This limitation can be solved by using the Cross Entropy (CE) algorithm. The numerical results presented in the last section will further clarify the superiority of this method.

Diep Le Ha Tho, Nguyen Bui Thi Que Tran, Huynh Thai, Nguyen Phu Qui, Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
In this study, a zeolitic imidazolate framework based on ZnN4 cluster was synthesized in water at room temperature. The reaction was studied by combination of ZnSO4ž7H2O with linker 2-methylimidazole  (2‑HmIm) in various conditions of 2-HmIm concentration and mole ratios of 2‑HmIm/Zn. The structure of the resulting material was characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). The morphology of the compound was observed by scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and the elemental composition was determined by energy dispersion X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) was used to illustrate the thermal stability of the material. It was demonstrated that the obtaining Zn-ZIF was successfully synthesized by green method with high crystallinity and high thermal stability. The product was further subjected to catalyze the reduction reaction of environmental pollutant 4-nitrophenol with reducing agent NaBH4. The preliminary study showed that the pristine Zn-ZIF did not exhibit catalytic activity due to fully saturated ZnN4 sites. This result paves the research direction to the way of modifying the pristine material resulting in unsaturated metal sites distributed on the carbon framework.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study aimed to analyze main compositions and evaluate the effectiveness of hydrolysate from brewer’s spent yeast as an  economical nitrogen source to replace commercial yeast extract in a lactic fermentation medium. The main composition in hydrolysate from yeast residue was protein content of 74.45% (dried weight), while carbohydrates and fat were undetected. The total polyphenol content in the yeast hydrolysate was 0.32 mg GAE/mL. The antioxidant capacity at a concentration of 100 μL/mL could reduce 34.51% of the free radicals of 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). The protein source of the De Man, Rogosa and Sharpe (MRS) medium was entirely replaced by 10% (v/v) hydrolysate, which increased the density of lactic acid bacteria to 8.09 CFU/mL and was not significantly different from that of the commercial MRS medium. The lactic acid content produced was 66.52% of the acid content produced by commercial MRS medium. This study indicates that the hydrolysate from brewer's spent yeast can potentially apply as a protein source in microbial fermentation.

Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study was conducted to determine the effect of salinity levels (0, 1, 2 and 3‰) on the growth and physiology of cove pea plants at seedling stage and the effect of vermicompost dosage (0, 10, 20 and 30 tons/ha) on the growth, yield and quality of dwarf cove beans under artificial saline irrigation during the flowering stage. The results showed that the cove bean plants in the seedling stage grew well at the salinity level of 2‰. The salinity level 3‰ affected the growth of plant height, root length, plant biomass and root biomass. Saline irrigation for 3‰ of the flowering period reduced fruit quality, reducing yield by 18.2% compared to the treatment without saline irrigation. Applying 30 tons/ha of vermicompost increased 14.6% compared to the treatment with only NPK. The results recorded that the yield of dwarf cove beans in the treatments of 20 tons and 30 tons/ha of vermicompost was not statistically significant. It is possible to use a dosage of 20 tons/ha of vermicompost for cove beans to save costs in production.

Impacts of adaptive livelihood strategies to saline intrusion and economic constraints on income of mangosteen growers in Ben Tre

Ngo Thi Thanh Truc, Le Tan Loi
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
Saltwater intrusion in 2016 greatly affected agricultural production in Ben Tre province in areas that had never, rarely and often suffered from saline intrusion. Thus, the study assessed the change in income of mangosteen growers from adaptive livelihood strategies to saline intrusion and economic activities through interviewing 196 mangosteen growing households in Ben Tre province in March 2019. Mangosteen growers have converted part or all of their mangosteen acreage to other crops (42%). This change has increased household income by 63 - 116% and income from cultivation by 79 - 143% in 2018. However, the conversion of crops too quickly is likely to affect the income of the converted households in the following years. Mangosteen growers need to acquire knowledge on market access and farming techniques for both mangosteen and new crops adapted to saltwater intrusion in order to increase household income.

Hoang Thi Dieu Thuy
Abstract | PDF (Tiếng Việt)
This study aims to examine factors influencing tourists’ satisfaction with local cuisine through a survey of 280 domestic tourists visiting Hue and by applying the theoretical framework of pull and push factors. Using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method to analyze data, the study found that perceived food quality, perceived price, and tourist motivation to consume local food positively influenced tourist satisfaction. The perceived food quality had the largest positive impact on the local cuisine satisfaction of domestic tourists. Based on these results, several key practical and managerial implications were proposed to increase tourist satisfaction with local cuisine, including enhancing the understanding and awareness of food safety among businesses involved in tourism, supporting the use of healthy and locally grown ingredients, enforcing the publication of food prices and a single rate for each meal for all customers in a restaurant, and enhancing food story-telling for tourists.
